Start Something LAS Director, Jeff Bull, had the privilege of working with 56 incredibly talented high school students in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia as part of the Innovation Fellows in Training (I-FIT) program at Iowa State University. The two-day workshop, “Innovate Smarter: Understanding people, applying AI”, started with the students focusing on the mindset of innovation, developing their ability to think through problems, discover pain points, and iterate on solutions. Then they explored how to apply AI, not as a final solution, but as a tool in the process. On the second day they took what they learned and applied it to solving problems in the areas of healthcare and education in Mongolia. Together, they explored innovation, creativity, and AI as a tool for change. Innovation is global because problems in need of solutions are global.
