Start Something is just one of the many ways you can be part of Iowa State’s inclusive culture focused on interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and entrepreneurship. As part of the Start Something Network, the ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship offers programs and competitions designed to help you hone your entrepreneurial skillsets, whatever your discipline. The Start Something Network also includes our state-of-the-art Student Innovation Center where students of all majors can turn their ideas into action.

    The Student Innovation Center is the heart of creativity and collaboration at Iowa State University. All students are welcome, regardless of major. Create something new in one of the Makerspaces, participate in one of their Innovation Programs, and explore endless ways to turn ideas into action.

    From entrepreneurship-focused programs like CYstarters, to friendly pitch competitions, to resources, events, and more, you can find tools and support to help engage your inner innovator at the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship.

    CYstarters

    CYstarters is an 11-week summer accelerator hosted by the Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship for Iowa State students or recent graduates to focus on their startup or business idea. Students have the opportunity to work with real-world entrepreneurs, learn and grow from educational sessions, and engage with the Ames entrepreneurial ecosystem.

    Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute

    At the Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute, students participate in an advanced study of entrepreneurship that includes seminars with successful entrepreneurs, business, and community leaders; networking and mentoring to enhance their understanding of entrepreneurship opportunities in Iowa; and they have a little bit of fun, too.
